VIDEOS
The video footage of J.B. & The Playboys
performing "Leave My Woman Alone"
from the movie "Playgirl Killer" (1965) is back online. I don't have
much at all for videos,
but occasionally will get a few good ones up for permanent reference here on the
website.

Also up is an early STAMPEDERS promo video, when they were still a 6 piece
group,
synched with a master tape run-off of their 1968 rocker "All The
Time".

Sun".
Super Oldies label offers new alternative...
I can't stand clutter...and
most collectors I know have CDs and LPs stacked up to the ceiling,
and multiple shelves full of CDs. After a residential move, I reduced 4 tall
spin racks of CDs
into ONE half rack with the wonderful JEWEL SLEEVE.
No, not the generic cheapo you can find in stores, but through JEWEL
SLEEVE.com
They are tough, gentle on your CD, no more cracked, scuffed jewel cases, and the
space...oh, the extra space!

100 jewel cases compared to 100
jewel sleeves!
It holds everything that came with your original jewelbox, including the
booklet, the tray card, and of course the CD.
Besides having three separate pockets, it is durable, and of archival quality.
I can't tell you how many jewel cases I usually have to replace when my
SuperOldies CDs come from the factory...
it is profit loss, it takes time to re-shrinkwrap the item, and often the
booklet has damage because of it.
When the CD comes off the spindle while in the mail, it has nowhere to go except
scratching against the center spindle.
If you miss sliding the booklet properly in the front tray, you have a damaged
booklet where the stubs are.
ALL THE ABOVE REASONS is why starting with the next Super Oldies CD release, all
of my products will utilize
the JEWEL SLEEVE and I know music collectors like myself will appreciate the
quality, and the saved space!
Check out their website, and try a few out...and most of all, tell 'em SUPER
OLDIES sent ya!
Many of the above groups reunited & performed at the "Alberta Rock 'N' Roll Reunion" in October 2006.
The event was recorded and is now available on a 2.5 hour DVD:
ALBERTA ROCK & ROLL REUNION
Wayne Russell offers this review:
"Lots of Clovis connections with George Tomsco being there & playing on songs he wrote for mid-60's Canuck groups. Also did things like "Bulldog/Las Vegas Scene". Wes Dakus spoke, but didn't play. Shackshakers backed many early people like Dick Damron {great - his Laurel & "That's What I Call Livin'}, Joe Kozak {his two R-A-B & pretty good}, Shirley Field {only "Ski Rock" but in good strong voice for 70 years?}. Shawn Nagy did great on the original lead breaks. The show had a Don E. Scott who sang & said he wrote "I Still Miss Someone" for Cash. B.S. - think he's the guy who said he was Don Deal as well - mentioned "Unfaithful Diane" or whatever that song was Deal did.
How does he get away with it?
Actually, enjoyed the DVD. Most people showed up & did their work. Rock-A-Tunes were good too. Gord Grey came on with a walker, but then threw it down & started shakin' Elvis-wise. Talked about their Fendermen days - I saw them in Wpg. at the Town & Country, but didn't know it was the Rock-A-Tunes then. Alan Lee & Peppermints were good - real bluesy now. Bill Hersch did "Party Doll" in tribute to Buddy Knox. Mel Degen was still in great voice. Jerry Palmer good too - did "Travellin' Shoes", but missed Pig Robbins piano break.
Worth the 2 & half hour show."
